Okay so the move to the new cage seems to be going well.....except I don't know if it is hot enough in there. Should I try a higher wattage bulb? The one I have is 150 watts though. Is there something I can buy that just provides heat? Should I just move their rock pile thing higher somehow? I only started to worry because Bam Bam hasn't been his usual eating everything in sight self recently.

Thanks everyone!!! I would post more pictures but my camera battery is dead and I can't find the charger or the other battery (which is probably in the charger)

The best way to *know* is by using a thermometer LOL. On second thought, the BEST way would be if Johne would send me one of the IR heat probes he keeps *losing* ROFL. Some of mine go off feed for a bit if moved to new settings though.

The temperature is the same as in the old cage...but the basking spot is further from the heat lamp then in the old cage and also this is a much bigger cage to warm up. Do they have just heat lamps with no light?

Yeah, those ceramic heat emitter things that screw in like a light bulb. You could use undertank heaters, or flexiwatt heat tape (on a rheostat) to keep a warmer temp down low on the floor of the viv, also. I have to resort to that to keep the temps up in the winter, when the room temps may get lower than whale expletives.

What is this heat tape stuff that you are talking about? I have heard of undertank heaters and used to use one and I have also heard of the screw in heaters (they look like spirals, right?). I also had a heat rock at one time but I heard that was really dangerous so I took it out.

....is this stuff which is a sort of less expensive UTH (under tank heater) material. There are some other links on that page, but google knows all, sees all LOL.
