Honduran Question

chefdev Aug 13, 2011 10:09 PM

I recently obtained a ghost honduran male with a vanishing pattern. This guy has whites like a snow with some black and light purple.
I have one regular bi color honduran and one tangerine honduran female.
I don't know either of their parents traits... Hets etc...
Without knowing this, what could be the possibilities of the babys to come?

Well, if your two females are just normal then all the babies will be normal looking (wild type) but they will be 100% double het for ghost (hypo and anerythristic).
Now if you just get normals and some hypos then the hypos will also be 100% het anery (ghost) and if you get some anerys but no hypos then they will be 100% het for hypo (ghost). If you get a anery and a hypo in the same clutch it doesn't mean that your female wasn't a dbl-het but it would just meen that you didn't get that lucky toproduce a ghost.Sometimes if the clutches are small its hard to prove anything out.
Worse case is you wil produce 100% double het ghosts cause there father is a visual double homo.
Hope that helps.
So many normal looking hondos are het for this and that so you just never know.
Have fun and no mater what you will enjoy just watching them hatch.

Actually (and I know you know this, Shannon, maybe I'm just clarifying here) if he produces both an anery and a hypo in a single clutch it proves that female IS double het. Don't need to produce a ghost to prove she's dbl-hey, just need to produce both of the components.
