i am going away for two weeks and have a concern. where i keep my 4 adult ball pythons in a rack the temps in that room vary from 77-88 depending on the outside temps but never above 90 as i have a ac unit set to go off if need be. the last few weeks have been very warm and so i have had the heat tape off for weeks and was getting tub readings in the high 80's close to 90 perfect temps. now that im leaving its starting to get a little cooler temps around 80-82 day temps so the tubs are now reading 80-82 my concern is that being away im worried leaving my helex set to 90 because i have noticed that if it gets hotter in that room than my helix goes higher than what i have set it to. will it be ok to leave the helix off and just rely on the temps outside? im in the northeast so the next two weeks will vary in the day temps between 78-86? please any suggestions are very much appreciated. i will have a nice bowl of water of course and fresh aspen before i go.

If you have a AC unit set and working, I'm pretty sure you answered your own question.

You say if your room gets hotter than what the helix is set at, the helix gets hotter? At that point the helix shouldn't actually be putting any power to the flexwatt, it's just picking up the room temperature.

So you think that the helix is just telling what the
Room temp is and not actually putting out any power?
Thanks for your post!

if it's working properly.....?...I don't have Helix...can't you read set temp AND actual temp?....

....open door....AC will cover temp ....turn on Helix to 90....so it will be from ac setting to 90...?...

...or get friend or relative to check them.....I have same trouble...noone to check my stuff at all....I do not go away...never have.....ever.....I left this week from 12 noon till 12 midnight the next night....and it was about my time limit with the rodents and food/bottles....36 hours.....

The helix will tell you wether its putting power to the heat tape (green light on) or not (green light off)

Google helix manual.

Set your Helix to the temp you want it to keep. It will then
keep that temp for you.

Keep the ambient or room temp lower than the high Helix temps.
