Do hogs "cuddle"?

lhenry777 Aug 16, 2011 12:03 AM

I know this is an outrageous question. And the answer is probably one of thermo-regulation or something. But I have a male and female in the same tank, and they almost are never separate from each other. I've had them for a month now and I think I've seen them separate maybe twice other than when I feed. I've NEVER seen activity like this with any of my other snakes. Can someone she some light?
Thanks -

No emotions going on there unless they are breeding. But even then, they would spend plenty of time apart in that amount of time. What's more than likley happening, is they are both seeking the most optimal comfort zone in the enclosure. If you have ever seen a litter of boas, they will all be drawn to the same spot and pile up on top of eachother in an attempt to get in that perfect zone.

The best thing to do would be to separate them into their own enclosures. I wouldn't suggest keeping hogs together unless you are trying to breed them.

I am trying to breed them right now. So maybe there's a combination of the 2 going on then. It's just the weirdest thing. I can go over to their tank and there they'll be.
Thanks so much for replying. I knew I'd never heard of any emotion being involved. It's just weird.
