Swedish Line Jungles?

tcdrover Aug 16, 2011 11:55 AM

Anyone breed one of these to the more common Jungle line here in
the US?

Are they compatible, would this produce Super Jungles?

I have a Sharp het that might be a low expression jungle from the
Swedish line and I plan on proving her by mating her with a
Jungle hypo het for sharp.

At first I thought there were 2 jungles in the sharp sunglow
litter I just had. I figured they were either not really jungles
or extreme exceptions, but it looks like there are a more than
just two.

I'm curious if anyone has done this, or if anyone has experience
working with Swedish line Jungles versus regular jungles.

They are all the same line. Swedish line Jungle refers to the Jungles we have here that basically Pete Kahl purchased
from Lars Braandle who lives in Sweden.

I believe Lars picked these Boas up from a Zoo near him in Sweden.

He Bred these Boas together and produced the crazy looking Boas we
know today as Jungles and Super Jungles.

People characterize their Jungles as "Swedish Line" because even today there are
still people out there who sell or call Boas with wacky patterns as Jungle Boas.

Hope that helps

Thanks Lar, that clears it up.

I'm going for the Super Jungles next year. It should be
exciting. Both parents are sharp hets, the male is a very nice
jungle hypo.

I haven't seen super jungle albinos or sunglows. I'm sure someone
has bred them. Have you seen any?

I've seen a few Sharp Jungles not too many produced yet.

Ruben produced some a couple years in a row here and a few others.

Good Luck with the Sharp Super J project !

Nice!

The male I'm going to pair with that female I got from Ruben too.

Here are some of the neos. It's interesting just how completely
different most of them are. I think the last one at least is a
jungle. These are 3 of the ones I'm keeping.

The last one does seem to show jungle traits... Was mom from a known jungle litter? Start throwing hypo and albino into the mix and the low expression ones can slip by!
