Ackie vs Bearded Dragon

zippybomb Aug 16, 2011 01:26 PM

Hello, I'm thinking of getting a new lizard and I want something a little bigger than what I have right now (geckos). I've always wanted a monitor and have done tons and tons of research into them and I think ackies would be the best for me as they seem to be the smallest and the friendliest. I also think bearded dragons are really cool but I can't really decide between the two of them. Give your thoughts and stories. Thanks.

I have a bearded dragon and I'm thinking of getting an Ackie. I think a big difference is how active they are. I think beardies are pretty lazy they seem to just like to bask alot and Ackies seem much more active Most people say you shouldn't house multiple dragons together especially males, whereas Ackies are commonly housed together. Another weird thing I've noticed is Ackie breeders seem content to get multiple monitors from the same clutch and breed them together. I'm not saying everybody does this but I have read and seen accounts. In the bearded dragon world most People try to get variety in their DNA mix.
