So of course I had to go home and check them out at lunch!!

Ginger is way past her due date of 05/30, 17 days past and the furthest past her due date I've ever had by a whole week. Phew, she had me pacing and checking a lot. Last day and a half she had been moving ad=round some which I took as a good sign. This morning I found her going back into her hide just before I left for work (06:40), still no babies. Then I got the message from my wife she saw a baby in the cage around 11:30.

Turns out Ginger is not carrying the stripe gene (if it is a gene) like her sister Harriet Wacko does look like he has it and several of the babies look like they have it with full bullseyes. Still, she delivered 16 full term healthy babies and one stillborn - out of the sack and presumed drowned inside mom. Not too shabby at all for a first time mom.

Crappy slime pile pic.....

ouple of group shots....

Closeup showing a couple of bullseyes...

No rest though, one delivered late, another one joining three others in the any day now watch. (Apricot, Dawn, Akoya and Aubergine)

Thanks Paul, while not precisely what I was hoping for, still another piece to the aberrant/stripe puzzle. At this point I believe Wacko, Harriet and Ozzy have it while Ginger does not.

Congratulations. Those are some great looking bullseyes.

rainbowsrus Aug 17, 2011 12:49 PM

Thanks Jeff, I thought so as well, very clean bullseyes, not like others I've seen and/or produced where it's a few here and there. I'm really thinking this is related to the Striped babies I produced last year from Harriet and Ozzy.

All four, Ginger, Harriet, Ozzy and Wacko are from the same litter with Ginger having noticeably less of the super bold crescents that the other three show.
