Vitamin and Calcium schedule and brands used...query...

Mayo Oct 01, 2003 08:44 AM

I am getting a pair of geckos on Saturday. I have everything ready to go. I just wanted to get an idea of what the popular brands of vitamins and calcium supplements used by many of your here. Can you post what brands you use, how you supply (which you put in the calcium dish, which you sprinkle on the feeders, which you gutload to mealworms, etc). And also how often you use each. Any and all information would be very helpful. I just want to get an idea of what the populus uses.

Thanks,
Matt

I use Repcal (I buy it by the gallon from BeanFarm) offered every feeding on dusted crickets or 24/7 in the mealworm dish.

For vitamins I use Herptivite... once weekly.

For a guload I use chicken feed as my staple with various fruits and veggies as a water source.

I think that should cover it.

Hi,

What kind of Reptical do you use? With or without Vit D? I have vitamin supplements i dust with every few days, so the one without the vit D is Ok right?

Thanks

I just got through asking this same question on another forum so I can tell you what was told to me. I was using Retivite dusted on every cricket that was fed to my leo. Apparently this is too much. It was suggested that i dust every cricket with calcium powder (i ended up buying one of those cuttlefish bones for birds and grinding it up as it is all calcium). I also leave a small dish of the calcium powder in a bowl in the cage. I then use the reptivite every 3 days or so. My leo is around 4 months old so this will probably go down to once a week after a little while. Hope this helps.
