OT - How can you resist that face . . . .

powergeckos Oct 01, 2003 08:44 AM

I've been toying with cresteds for about a year and am ready to breed a trio now. I have found the adults to be very gentle - although they'll hope on you - with a warm hand, their pretty calm. This one is like a little puppy!!!

My daughter is holding this one. Pretty cool.

. . . is that there are extremely cool morphs in rhacs that have NOTHING to do with Red or Tangerine. Don't mis-understand - I love that color - but sometimes I like a little change. I have a couple darkfires that will knock your socks off.

Better yet - they've developed a very good diet that's non-insect related. How cool is that?

I'd love to see some more pictures... I think cresteds are really neat, but with only one reptile room filled with ball pythons, hognose snakes, aft's and leos I would have a hard time making space for an arboreal species, it's a bummer. Though I wouldn't mind having a gecko that doesn't need an additional heat source and eats a non-insect diet, thats for sure!

I would love to see some more pics Monte.

My new babies are too jumpy to photograph - at least for me. But I think by Christmas, I should have some nice pix to show.

Here is another pose of one of my orange gals . . .

Kelli H. has an outstnding pair or burnt red cresteds, if I remember.

I just ordered the new rhac book - I guess it has some outstanding morph pix in it.

I've only got a couple (or three, can't count geckos anymore), but this is one of my females. She's beautiful, but has lost her tail before I got her.

Here is a picture of one of my dark fire morphs as a baby. Monte is right ... they definately have a face that is hard to resist and they come in some great color morphs. They have a great personality too. I have one that actually "cuddles" with my yellow lab whenever he is out of his cage.

Monte - have you had any luck with the Crested Gecko diet? Only one of my four will even touch it, and that's only if I mix it with babyfood.

My dark fire crestie, Gizmo ....

. . . with their food. It's CG or na-da.

Actually - I do mix it with babyfood sometimes, but they have to eat it - I haven't had one die yet. The babies don't eat a lot, though, so it's so hard to judge.

I have been experimenting with smaller mealworms with some success. I will keep on offering it to them.

Nice to see some crested support on these forums! I have two babies, one is a rust orange with a white stripe down it's back and big blue eyes, and the other is a dark orange with bluish gray stripes horizontally across it's body with gray eyes. I absolutely adore these lizards, and have been in search of a juvenile blue one. I think they make great, very low maintainence pets and think they are going to find an easy place in my heart as my second favorite breed of lizard.
