I think you took it about right. By far the least amount of vendors that I can remember. From what I saw it did seem like things were selling well though. I thought prices were actually pretty high on the stuff I was interested in.

I actually live about 15 miles south of the Ocean Center and haven't been in 5 years due to how uneventful I found it last time. I decided to go ahead and give it another shot this year and was actually less impressed impressed than I was 5 years ago.

None of the "Big Name breeders" were there other than Brian from BHB (who I never saw at his table but did see 4-5 times in different areas being followed by a camera),Constrictors unlimited and Pro Exotics.

There didn't seem to be the selection that there was in the past. It seemed to be mostly ball python morphs with a few blood pythons, boas and GTP's thrown in for good measure.

I left with 1 book,1000 meal worms, a 2 year subscription to Reptiles magazine and the business cards of some of the smaller breeders in my area(who will be getting my business instead of the bigger guys who didn't bother to show)

All said and done if I don't go back for another five years I seriously doubt I'll be missing out on anything.

The Snake Keeper was right next to me, Pro Exotics next to them and all the Python Hunters....Greg Graziani, Michael Cole and Shawn Heflick on the other side of me. Big Breeders I THINK!!

Show was AWESOME for us both as vendors and customers looking for new stock. Prices were super fair, and actually alot of morphs went up in price.
There was a plethora of neat morphs as well, such as caramel pieds, lesser leopards, african born champagne morphs, highway balls, and tons of other stuff.
But the cool thing I loved about the show was the new market of people from out of country, and no it wasnt europe or asia, but looks like we have a totally new ball python market coming, and they were buying in FORCE!

i have to agree. if you like ball pythons there is no way you could have been upset. i only wish i had more time to stay there.

yes, it is a little smaller. but, it is much more comfortable than it was in the early 2000's. a beautiful building with great air conditioning, and very impressive ball pythons.
thanks

So what country was it?

snakesatsunset Aug 23, 2011 09:37 AM

A whole continent!

I thought it was smaller too, with less vendors and attendees. But as someone else said, it was more comfortable. Easier to get around and see everything. And yes, lots of awesome ball pythons. True, overall, not the reptile diversity you used to see. But if you liked balls you could not go wrong. Was fun for me and the vendors I asked all said they did well. I was glad to hear that.
