Aggressive baby boas

tbone21 Aug 21, 2011 07:50 PM

This is the third year I've been breeding boas. Never had any problems. But this year the one litter has 8 highly aggressive baby red tail boas. They sit there and his the minute i enter the room his the whole time i am in room and strike at anything that moves. Been trying to get them use to handeling but my hands look like pin cusion lol. Any advice on getting them to calm down? They are going on two months old? There were 26 in this litter all the others were fine except one that I've been keeping my eye on that just twist his head backwards and like twists on himself. I think the mother injured him cause there have never been any signs of heredity problems....

If having ruled out mites, and environmental stresses, I would think (because of the neurological symptom) that you have some type of brain damage in those...possibly chemical, viral, or genetic (like the head wobble in spider BPs). Are any odd colored or patterned to indicate anything genetic? But, individuals have individual personalities and perhaps that's all it is. Usually, aggression is just lack of feeling safe and secure, so I'd try to make that happen. Other than that it's just a matter of wearing them down I suppose.
