Post shed LTT

joecop Aug 22, 2011 12:00 PM

My first clutch of LTT has hatched and four have gone through their first shed. Out of twelve hatchlings in this clutch, ten have collar necks. Second clutch due any day now. Here are the first four to shed. (clutch is female heavy 2.10)

Super awesome, Joe! Those are beautiful! How far inland and what habitat were they from? I see tons of "temporalis" (syspila) influence in there. Again, simply fantastic! I'd love to see photos of the dam (and sire, if available) again.

Thanks and congrats!

Thanks Cole. I am about an hour (maybe a little less) from "temporalis habitat". There was some paper or study done where this county was considered an intergrade of temporalis and LTT. I read it somewhere, just cannot remember. I too see a ton of influence in some of the animals here. I know a collar does not mean anything, but to have 10 of twelve with collars from this hatch is cool to me. Probably fifty percent of the animals I find in the wild have collars.

Super nice hatchlings Joe! I do love the collar-neck feature on them. Well, I know you got 2.10, but be thankful it isn't a sword fight! Haha. Keep the pics coming.

LOL. Thanks Mitch. Yeah, glad it was female heavy and not male. Funny thing is that in three clutches I have hatched from here I only hatched three males so far. Guess that is why they are plentiful in my spots. Took me a LONG time to find them and figure out where and how to find them, but I have it down now!! Can't wait for this next clutch to hatch and see what I get. The female to both of these clutches were wild caught and one of them is one of the ugliest I have found around there. The male must have been a looker!!

Very very nice Joe!! Those are beauties. Look very clean with bright white backgrounds. Very interesting on the collars - this locality you've got is fun to work with not knowing what will come out. I only got 2 collars out of 9 eggs this year from your line of animals. Great stuff.

Thanks Dave. Well, the line you have is about two miles from this line. Same county and very close I might add, but different animals. I am getting ready to post the rest of the clutch, with the exception of two that have not shed. One of them has a very dark head and looks cool, and one is pretty red. My second clutch is pipping right now so we shall see what happens with them. They too are from the same area of the last clutch.
