there is an almost all white morph of the california king available and some of the cape forms are almost solid black. Of course, Mexican Black Kings are solid black so within the getula subspecies, you can find all white and all black snakes.

most Black Rat snakes are solid black above (although they are white under the chin). There is a leucistic morph of the TX ratsnake which is solid white. The two subspecies are similar enough in shape that it would look like an all black and an all white snake of the same kind.

That, and people have crossed the two so you also see leucisitc "black" rats for sale. Some say these are pure but I have serious doubts. The crosses lack the bugeyes common in the Texans.

Peter: It's OK, I'll handle it. I read a book about something like this.
Brian: Are you sure it was a book? Are you sure it wasn't NOTHING?
the reason i am asking about this, is i want to make a display of a white snake in a black cage with black furnishings, and a black snake in a white cage with white furnishings, exact opposits of each other. what kind of snake would be best?
I've seen solid black Pines and white pines (they are a little pinkish actually). They're pretty neat snakes if you don't mind some huffing and striking.
An all white cage and white accessories might be a little stressful for a snake. Most snakes like a nice dark place to hide...

I'm almost sure I've at least heard of a leucistic e. hognose, and have seen black ones (with pale ventral scales)

...and I think to myself, "What a wonderful world."
I had a C. adamanteus that was so dark that at a distance, you'd swear it was a cottonmouth. And, of course, there have been leucistic EDB's.

Terry Vandeventer produced some leucistic Cottonmouths this year. The first I have ever seen or heard of. They look like they were spray painted with gloss-white spray paint. Beautiful animals. I think he may have an ad in the venomous classifieds if you want to see what they look like.
