just to followup on your response..

"Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response...I was gone this weekend. I don't think there is anything you could use safely. As long as the tip of bone isn't breaking the skin I'd leave it alone and give her really good nutrition and peace and quiet so she doesn't feel the need to crawl around a lot.

well what I did was, and this is an unorthodox method, I applied home made mud (that is also used for infections in humans, an old chinese medicine, also found on animals when they are hurt) that i bought in a chinese medicine store. To my amazement, the swelling (and there was swelling) went completely down to the point where there is none. The broken toe is not showing through the skin, so that is a good thing. She is walking and behaving without any symptoms. If you want more info on this mud, let me know. It works miracles....

Vlad.

Hmm, very interesting. We won't really know if the swelling went down because of the mud or in spite of it. It could be that the mud drying on the skin set up an osmosis type reaction that drew collected fluid (under pressure from the swelling) out through the skin. The swelling would go down as a result regardless of what herbs were involved. I guess I am an ol' stick in the mud (no pun intended) and trust antibiotic creams for skin injuries. But, I realize there was no break in the skin on that toe. Anyway, I am glad it is better no matter what the reason!
