Incubating over water

ROC Aug 25, 2011 10:04 PM

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to ask if anyone has tried incubating hog eggs on a grid over just water. If so what did you think and how did it compare to incubating with a medium?

I THINK some incubating with the SIMs is just done with just wet sponges? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Take care,
Ross

Correct , mine are just wet sponge in them and its all good , just rather have the water in a medium instead of it loose and risk splashing if i move the container.

Hey Ross,
Most people use a medium to keep water from sloshing and splashing...

With that being said, water has been used on its own in the SIM container with great success...

Using some sort of loose medium will increase the evaporative surface area providing more humidity. Just something to think about.
