Thanks, I'm going to feed them lizards for awhile. It easier than feeding them pinks.

Ah, to be young again and able to move fast enough to catch a skink!!!! Good looking little Mole King!?!?!

That's great Gerard. Maybe the long car ride would have helped the OBX if I had put in in the box as well..LOL!

Snakes love skinks! One of my yearling pyros didn't want to eat much this spring but I fed her a blue tail skink and she was on that skink like flies on the the proverbial sh*t! Since then she has had a great appetite. It's like the skink stimulated her feeding response long term. Skinks work even better than fence lizards, but are harder to find. I actually have a skink living with my fence lizards, but it is too big to feed to baby snakes.

No kidding, I haven't had a snake that didn't like skinks. They are like candy to them.

Years ago, that was the only thing I could get picky Scarlet Kings to eat, and this year some hold out Miami Corns, attacked the pinks scented with Skink!

You know, since I do have that one big skink maybe I should scent the pinks with it. How would I do this without injuring the skink? It seems just rubbing the skink on the pinkies would not transfer much scent. I like my skink and don't want to hurt it.

I just put a big skink in a deli cup with a bunch of brown anoles and let them run around with each other for awhile. That seems to work. Also, I heard today that the skinks saliva works really well too.

I think I will put my skink in a deli cup with a bunch of pinkies and see if that works.

That will work. You should wash the pinky smell off first. I take the skink, and if it poops on me when I pick it up, just smear that on the pinks. If it doesn't a little push on it's abdomen usually does the job.

Thanks for the tips! Tomorrow I will find my skink in the big lizard tub. He is a shy guy and usually well hidden.

What has worked for me in many scenting attempts with different foods, is using the saliva of the scent animal. Hold the skink and he'll likely bite a pink but you might need to get a generous swab on the pinky.

Yeah, the female ate two brown anoles that I put skink saliva on. I let the skink bite me then I rubbed the spit on the anoles. They were small and I thought the skink would crush them. It worked though. Thanks for the advice.

Well, my skink probably would have bitten me, or bitten some pinkies (to get saliva on the pinks)but I could not find him in the big lizard cage. He is in there somewhere but I was reluctant to dig up the soil looking for him.
I have noticed a curious thing with the baby pyros. The first one to have a second shed now eats pinks no problem. I have another baby that is in her second blue cycle and am looking forward to seeing if she too eats more readily after she sheds. I suspect that after two shed cycles they are more interested in feeding; have five babies to go on this theory.
