Breeding

BeardieKid14 May 26, 2003 10:18 PM

I am positive that my female has bred with my male.
Do I switch her to a diffrent enclosure that the male?
If so how should I set up this new and enclosure and can it just be a 10 gallon?
What diet should I feed her now that she is "generating eggs"?
I have been feeding her just mealworms with calcium powder is this ok?
When she is done laying her eggs should I put her back in with the male?
Should I use a diffrent substrate?
Should I weigh her constantly, and if so how much weight should she gain?

Thanks for answering my questions,
Adam Hallquist

you don't have to seperate her. just provide a hide box filled with moist vermiculite as an egg laying chamber when she starts to "swell". you might want to give her a pinky once a week.
hope this helps.. good luck!

Seperate her, just because the male might stress her. Put her in 10 gallon with paper towels as substrate. Keep feeding her gutloaded mealworms and be sure to provide her with a calcium dish so she can lick up the calcium she needs for the eggs. You might also want to feed her a pinky once after every clutch, but i havent (parents wont let me)so its not really required though i did feed some waxworms to fatten her up. Give her a lay box (some kind of container filled with moss of bed a beast) and she'll lay in that, If this is her first time breeding the eggs probably wont be fertile, but be sure to give her lots of care, breeding is pretty stressful and she might lose some weight, so try to fatten her up while shes eating. Good Luck,
MaC
