2011 Cosala Mexico Sinaloans

Dniles Aug 28, 2011 07:48 PM

Finally after close to 80 days these guys started to pip. I was going out of my mind waiting for them given my high expectations for this clutch. I used a 2008 male I held back and have waited 2 1/2 years for him to be ready. I'm trying to produce babies that have his clean bright coloration and red head.

Only 2 are out - 6 more to go but the 2 that have made their appearance have not disappointed.

But first lets acknowledge the parents

Dam - gravid in first pic

Sire

clutch making their way out

hatchling 1 - male

the males are the ones that tend to have the redder heads in my experience

hatchling 2 - female

Thanks for looking

Dave,
I have admired your Cosala locale Sinaloan's for several years now. Can you give the history on your adults with regard to locale?

Hey Brad - All I know is that this line from Cosalas were brought into the states by Seven Generations Reptiles many years ago. They were popular when they first hit the scene and then their popularity faded when the next great thing came along. this bloodline stays fire engine red and consistently reaches 42"-48" in length. I had a male once that was pushing 5 feet.

There is also another line from Cosala mexico in the states that was brought in by Lloyd Lemke. You hear these referred to as the Lemke line. they are nice too but from what I have seen aren't as big as this Seven Generations line, and don't show the red flecking on their faces like this line does, etc.

I'm sure there are others out there that can provide more info on this subject that may chime in.

Thanks for the follow-up Dave. I may be requesting that you add me to your list for a pair of hatchlings in the future. They are really nice milks and the big selling point for me is that they have locality data. Great stuff.

You've got everyone fooled, Dave! There's no way a real snake could ever be THAT nice, so they're obviously fakes!

Truly outstanding, amigo. Seriously nice. How many Cosala clutches did you end up with this year?

Dell just returned from their native range. I hear he's got some photos to share with us, but probably not 'til the weekend. I'm giddy with anticipation.

Having had the opportunity to see these snakes IN THE FLESH just the other day, I can vouch for their color. And by vouch I mean "melt at the very thought of". These were, far and away, the most beautiful, authentic (and maybe well-fed Sinaloans I have ever seen. If anything, the photos fall short of capturing their vividness.

Great work, Dave, as always! A truly exceptional line you've created!
