Cool Clutch and Help with ID

Marcial Aug 28, 2011 08:16 PM

My ball pythons are running really late this year (along with all my other stuff, for some reason), and this was my first clutch to hatch for 2011.

The pairing was a Silver Bullet x Pewter.

What I really wanted from this pairing were the Sterlings. As you can see, I got two of them, and they are both girls! The three others in the clutch are males.

I had a question about the silver one... does it look like a Silver Bullet, or a Super Pewter? My initial thought was Silver Bullet, but I thought I would get some opinions since I've never seen a Super Pewter... the head coloration seems to be somewhere in between the 2 Sterlings and the Pewter.

might want to check your humidity gauge in that bin as it looks a little high j/k

Lmao, humidity can't be too high for fresh hatchlings unless they are "swimming". Moist paper towels are essential. They are incubated at 100% humidity or close and will be shedding in 7-10 days

As far as silver bullet or super pewter....ya got me...I'm no expert on the crosses. Congrats on the odds and clutch!

Here is a picture of a 1999 clutch that gave me two super pewters. There was a silver bullet in that clutch too, but he's not shown in the photo unfortunately. His head was a lot darker at birth than the heads on the super pewter sibs, and the rest of his body color soon followed suit. You should be able to tell more after the first shed, and it will be real clear after the second shed. Yours looks like a ringer though either way it goes. Congrats -- great looking clutch...Dave

Here's another pic of one of the super pewters at about the 6 month mark.

Good looking !
I was like "WHAT" in 1999 ? That's impossible, LIAR ! :D !
I am not sure that the pewter even existed at that time. Even Pastel and Cinnamon were just fresh out of africa.
