Alfonzo Cooling Off During Heat Wave

"Well, I could sure use a bigger swimming pool!" He used to fit in this water bowl! LOL! I'll give him a bigger bowl tomorrow.

Need to get him an "in ground" before long. As hot as it gets down here, none of my Pits are water prone. But then, I keep the house interior at an even 79 most of the year.

Upgraded all of Ahnuld's furnishings and he seems to be a much happier camper now. Not as hiss prone as he used to be. Here's a recent photo in his new four foot tank as he is now approaching the seven foot mark...

Ahnuld is just enormous! His color is so nice and red, too!
I have Alfonzo in a big new 4 foot tank, too. In this photo he is asleep under the box. All my tanks that are on tables and such have wire screen cat proof tops over the regular screen lids, as I don't want one of my bowling ball cats to fall through the screen lid. The cats don't bother the snakes, they just like to sit on top of things.

He is not as big as Ahnuld, about four and a half feet. His sister Zoey is in another tank by herself as I don't want them to breed again for at least a couple years. All my snakes have gotten a major upgrade in caging this year due to me being able to trade mice for these tanks from a reptile keeper friend, who went all to tubs and racks for his extensive collection.

The difference between having just a few snakes and an extensive collection IS the type of housing. Don't think I could ever switch over to the tub and rack system since I like to see my snakes every day and have them be a part of every day interactions here in the house. More of the "pet" concept. My seven snakes are all in at least 55 gallon aquarium setups and Ahnuld is in a 75. Space hogs, no doubt, but I see them and they see me multiple times daily which is the way I like it. The snakes often respond when I enter the room where they are and they seem to recognize and be capable of distinguishing me from others.

My youngest son just custom designed an "Ahnuld" T-shirt for me using a recent Ahnuld photo. The lettering is a little funky but his likeness on the shirt is spectacular...

I may have a "gophers" shirt made next using photos of my pets. They are ALL part of the family...

Your son did a great job on those T Shirts!
I, too, like to see my snakes and have them see me, so everybody is in glass tanks as big as I can fit in my little cabin.

Alfonzo really likes my partner. When my partner comes in the room he comes out to see him.
