For Breeders in Texas

texasviper619 Aug 28, 2011 08:31 PM

Hi, I've got some neat stuff in the works as far as kingsnakes and other projects, I've got the facility, I've got the drive, I've got the passion, but I don't have the permits, rules, neccesary tax documents etc. Can anyone who breeds/sells snakes in Texas give me any details on what is required to kick off a business in snakes? Many Thanks and I hope to maybe see some of ya'lls animals genetics mixed with mine someday!

hi dustin, if you have natives or more than 25 of any sp. you will need a non game dealer permit from tpwd to sell. if you are opening up a retail location you will also need to check your county/city for a local petstore permit, taxes are the same as in any business and will require a dba and state tax id
keep good records.
good luck ,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

Thanks! Applied for the nongame permit, I don't plan on opening a retail pet store and I'm outside city limits, that being said, will I still need a tax id? Thanks for your help!
