Pine in egg?

max0331 Aug 30, 2011 12:50 AM

What is the longest anyone has had any member of this genus sit in the egg after theyve already came out and looked around a bit? Mine took 83 days to start coming out. Now its been 28 hours and the little thing is just sitting there flicking its tongue. THis is my first time hatching a pine snake. I bought a female albino southern who bred for the first time with the previous owners snakebefore I got her. She dropped 7 eggs. And two went the distance. One of the two was fully developed and dead. The other is perfect. But just sitting in its egg case since around 8:30 last night. I know they will stick around until they have absorbed everything or atleast almost. But I was just wondering about anyone elses stats.
Thanks
Max

I had a similar situation with my Northerns this year. It was her first clutch, laid 7, 2 went the distance, but only 1 hatched. He sat with his head sticking out for something like 2.5 days before he slowly emerged. I wouldn't worry about it. He has since gone on to shed and begin feeding.

My only hope is that next year my pine produces 7 healthy eggs. You could see the lack of calcium in the egg shells this time. Oh well, still got one good one.
