Hatchlings... verticle yellow stripe instead of normal banding...?

Chrysemys Oct 01, 2003 02:21 PM

Hey,
One of my hatclings has a yellow stripe running down the center of his back with to black stripes on either side of it. Is this common? Will the stripe fade as he matures, and look normal? Or will it stay? My female is a normal, and my male is het for albino and patternless.
Thanks,
Chris D.

If the tail is striped, it is a stripe. If thhe tail is unbanded, but not striped, it is a partial stripe. If the tail is banded, it is an aberrant.

Ok his tail is lightly banded. How is it possible to get an abbarent pattern without any abbarent genes? Or maybe one of them had it and I did not know? How will he look when he matures? Thanks again,
Chris D.

it's very common, and no big deal. As for how he'll look when he grows up, wait and see.
