Albino Mot x Coral Sunglow

SouthFLBoa Aug 31, 2011 02:02 PM

I have an albino motley het stripe male that I am considering either breeding to a beautiful Coral Sunglow female or a Jungle het albino female. As I'm a novice in Boa breeding and not yet familiar with genetics, I'd like some opinions. What would you go with, and why? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Go with the motley albino X jungle het albino breeding. Sometimes with Kahl albinos you see issues breeding albino to albino. And you have the motley gene in there. I would go for some albino motley jungles. In our opinion. If both the albino motley and coral sunglow are from amazing amazing bloodlines, then may just produce a perfect litter of albino sunglows albino motleys and sunglow motleys.

I second the opinion of breeding the albino motley with the jungle het albino, but it IS possible to breed the male to both females........ and given the two females that you have, I would definitely try to do that. I would put him with the jungle first and not moving him to the sunglow female until I was certain that the first female was done.

I've heard of people having two females and one male housed together for breeding - I guess that way the male can go with whichever female he deems more ready for breeding.. but I personally have never tried doing that and would be hesitant to do it.

I would be curious to hear people's thoughts on this if anyone cares to share......

good luck!

Patrick

We have tried it once. One male and two females in the same house. Only one of the females ended up gravid and having babies although he courted and bred both of them. The bigger of the two never ovulated and we ended up with just the one litter. Wouldn't do it again. lol

I tend to agree with Pat here and would try the Jungle het first then try the Sunglow later.

In other words breed him to both fems providing both fems are
mature healthy fems of at least 3 years of age or older,
older is always better I'd say.

You might introduce him to one fem for about 10 days and see if
there is any action, if there is action leave it go .

If there is no action take him out and try the same process with the other fem.

I've never tried this but haven't been in a good position to do so.

I certainly would try this if I were in your position.

Meant to ask you before if you wanted to share pics of your critters. We would love to see what you are thinking about pairing up.

Not to be rude but I won't be talking about my pairings this season . I'm slightly gun shy as I feel I've been
jinxing myself by speaking about my pairings prematurely in the past two seasons.

If something good develops everyone will hear about it.

Hopefully I'll have something to share in a few months, Thx Guys

Some people like to share though Larry. Just was asking. I know the feeling of jinxing yourself but just love to see all the amazing boas out there. Only wish the best of luck to everyone.

Right now we have our 09 pink panther VPi T positive in with an arabesque female.
We also have a probable super sunglow in with a possible co dom reverse stripe DH sunglow female. Might pair up a superstripe male with a het superstripe female. Maybe another pairing or two in a month but we will see.
