Do veiled chameleons turn numerous colors like other chams (if they do, what colors are they?)?. If not, what chameleons do that are as hardy as the veiled. I pretty much narrowed my selection down to the veiled.

Veileds are basically leaf green with broad vertical stripes on their sides that can be yellow to orange depending on bloodline. They have several darker lines on their heads and through the eye. They are really beautiful chams. Pictures don't often do them justice as the close details are lost. There is a lot of variation though. Some carelessly bred ones don't have the larger stripes, and females tend not to anyway. Some are almost blue, some more yellow-green. As stress rises the stripes get brighter and often have a dark brown/black border around them. Every animal will turn a specific range of color, as this is determined by their genetic info. So, two veileds can be quite individual in color range, but they will both stay true to their own spectrum. I'd suggest you look at pics posted on the chameleon classifieds or on other cham sites. Do a search on Veiled Chameleon or Chameleo calyptratus and see what comes up.
