Dominican Red Mountain Boa (female).

CrocodilePaul Sep 07, 2011 02:16 PM

Greetings All,

These have become my favorite species of boa. Known as the Dominican Red Mountain Boa (Epicrates striatus striatus sp.) These are extremely rare and have an interesting natural history. This beautiful female boa was bred by good friend Tom Crutchfield.

Truly,

Paul,
She is a beauty. I am a big fan of Epicrates sp. I have a few in the collection (E. inornatus and E. subflavus). I want to get my hands on some of those Red Mountains but at this point space is limited. Born and raised in Puerto Rico I have travel to the Dominican Republic several times and have been able to witness the habitat of this keystone species. Tom and Bob are the GURUS with this particular species. Best of luck with her and any future projects. Thanks for sharing!

Aren't they great! I was down at Tom's in March, saw them for the first time "in the flesh", was blown away, and bought two pair on the spot.. LOL

So I'm with you, these are some of my favorite animals in my collection!
