Enchi nose spots??

John_Yezbak Sep 08, 2011 09:03 PM

Okay, I have a question regarding enchis.
I've searched and looked at a bunch of pictures but enchis seem to vary somewhat. Some have very reduced pattern and banding, some don't. Some are extremely colorful, some not so much.
I've noticed that most have these yellow spots on the side of their face/nose. My question is are these spots a reliable indicator of the Enchi trait? Or is there a better way to sort out a clutch?

Thanks for your help!
John
This picture shows an 8 day old female, she just had her first shed today. You can clearly see her nose spots.
I'm leaning toward saying she's a normal but the spots have me wondering??

The spots you are talking about happen in normals and morphs. In this case they are not indicative of the enchi gene.

IMO, you get what you pay for with enchi's. This year we produced a few as well as a few combos and have had no problem picking them out. Here is a good example of a 2011 enchi. All of ours have increased yellow under tones, a wide band behind the eye and significant banding. Another indicator is reduced or no "aliens".

We wish you the best this season and in seasons to come!

here is a picture of my enchi male with my lesser male. my enchi which came from alan cole also has the spots. but i dont think its indicative of the morph.
the one you show does not appear to be an enchi to me. i dont have a bunch of experience with enchi's but of the ones ive seen they were pretty easy to tell.

Okay, cool, that's the info I needed. Into the normal pile she goes.
Thanks everyone for the help.

Those spots look a lot like the ones Brian Gundy uses for his Gold Blush Mojaves. You might want to think about contacting Brian and ask him what he thinks.
