Baby anery's 2nd shed, look

ShadyLady Sep 09, 2011 11:44 AM

This baby female anery motley just had her second shed. Look how much color she lost. She went from jet black to this in one shed. Looks as tho she might be a hurricane motley like her dad. If so I wonder how light she'll get.

He's a two year old lavender motley and this is all the color that is left. He is a pearly very light lavender that doesn't show well in photos. Sorry the pic is so large.

Thanks, Doug. I really wish I had a baby pic of him. I thought he looked like a normal lavender motley as a baby. Then he got lighter, lighter, lighter.... I think his spots might just go away.

Amy, I could have sworn that you posted one of him a long time ago?

In any case though, that is simply unreal!. At only two, I guess he could become virtually patternless as well as being incredibly light.

That is a very cool snake indeed!..

Here are the yearling pics of the lavender male. He was real light then. I'm just so excited about him! I believe he is also het diffused. There are just too many masque type head patterns in this clutch. See the little head pics below. At least four I believe to be het diffused. I plan to breed him to the yearling female posted below next year, if she's up to size, to figure out whether he is also anery or just het anery.

Ah yes, I remember those pics. Heck, he looks pretty diffused in those photos actually..LOL!

Yes, it will be interesting to see what he produces.

Yeah, that would be awesome if that one does the same thing that the lavender motley sire did and became MUCH lighter as it matured. That would be pretty neat if animals sired by that male became predictably lighter.

Yes, it would be neat. I'm trying to pick out which of the motley's look to be hurricanes, but a dark outline around saddle color is very common. Here is a bad pic of a yearling anery female from the same dam, but sired by a wild caught anery, also pictured. See the pretty saddle outline on her? The wc anery is very plain, no yellow at all, just a tiny bit of tan, mostly on his head. Must be that multi het female. She may have some okeetee in her.

Yes, that anery youngster does have some nice bordered blotching.

Is that W/C anery from around southwest Florida?
