Two holdbacks from 2nd clutch

joecop Sep 09, 2011 10:14 PM

My second clutch of LTT hatched a couple of weeks ago and I have narrowed down at least two holdbacks. Cannot believe these two are from the same clutch.

Thanks Amy. Me too. I like that scarlet you have!! We always want what we don't have. They are on my list though.

Yeah, and I know right where a wild scarlet is in my backyard. I mess with her now and then. She lives under a big heavy sheet of pressure treated plywood. I find more of them here in N. FL than any other snake, even grey rats, and they're quite numerous.

That is awesome Amy. Kind of like having a bunch of Scarlet king pets and you don't have to clean cages or anything! I have a spot where I find tons of LTT and feel like that anyway. Very cool.

Those are sweet Joe! I like the high white on that first one. Both have great color too. Good choices.

I held back a male ltt from my MD clutch and he finally ate a live pink the other day. Yes!! Lol

Thanks Dave and congrats on the feed. You are one ahead of me, that is for sure. Tough little buggers to get started! I have heard some locales (pa from another forum member) are easy to get going on pinks. Not my locale! LOL

Very nice Joe. Love how clean and bright they are as young'uns. Never get tired of seeing milks from my home range.

Out of curiosity... how many of them do you keep?

Thanks for the kind words Gerry. I have my four w/c limit plus an additional 10 or so CB. Lately I have been more interested in the animals themselves in the wild. I have caught and released over thirty this year and started keeping detailed records on the animals to study their behavior. I can see my collection getting smaller in the future and doing mostly field work. I really enjoy watching them crawl away after getting to look at them. Kind of sappy, but just how I have been feeling about them lately.

gerryg Sep 11, 2011 02:23 AM

Not sappy at all... over the years I've kept some wc's for a week or so, perhaps a month every now and then. But whether I keep them short term or let them go immediately I am in agreement with you... nothing beats watching them go about their way.

Wow, gotta love those "temporalish" Ltt! They sure are interesting.

joecop Sep 12, 2011 05:07 PM

Thanks. I dig them. Several different color variations going on in Montgomery County. Some have that temporalis influence look and some don't. I like them both ways! Very rarely do I encounter one with heavy "newsprint" on the sides. Odly enough, the mother to these was one of those few.
