Question on Ivories

tropicalhut Sep 09, 2011 10:42 PM

I just hatched Ivories for the first time. There were 2 clutches one with 1 ivory and the other with 3. The dad of the 1 clutch was a pastel yellowbelly and the dad in the second was either the same pastel yellowbelly or a normal yellowbelly.
The 3 clutch are considerably darker(purple) and have pattern on there sides. The 1 clutch is very light in comparison.
So this is the question is this normal for ivories to contrast so much? is one of these a pastel ivory?

Pastel Ivories have very light colored heads. Here are two pictures of my Pastel Ivory. The first one is of it right after it’s first shed and the second one is of it at about 700 grams.

Thanks for the answer on that one. The heads on all of mine are a lot darker than yours so obviously not pastels. But is the purple and pattern normal on ivories? I checked the pics on world of ball pythons but could not find any that were similiar?

Your lighter one is what my normal ivories look like.

Perhaps its a matter of different lines producing different looking ivories - IDK - despite the fact that I love to dark dirty ones I've never produced one mine have all been light and clean.

Those darker ones look different than Pastel Ivories I've hatched over the last couple seasons.

I say different because all of the Pastel Ivories I've hatched have lighter heads. (Like the one Albey posted...)

And the side patterns on yours are 'busier' and more colourful (the orange) than any Pastel Ivory I've hatched or recall seeing.

No, they don't look like Pastel Ivories.
Yes, I would love to hatch some of those bad boys/girls out.

They kind of remind me of a Puma Ball or the Highway Ball. ('odd' Superstripes...)

What's going on with your Pastel Ivories?
I don't know, but I'm not surprised that the YellowBelly gene is involved.

Maybe just me, but they look like I'd expect a SuperStripe Ivory (Spectre Ivory) would look like.

Congratulations on those.
If you have time please share updated photos with us. I'm anxious to see how those colour up. Thanks!
