beardie "wave" question plus a pic of my new babies

shortydsm Oct 01, 2003 05:57 PM

I read that when beardies wave, it is a sign of submission or passiveness & that usually the females wave. I have 2 new babies, I'm guessing they are btwn 1-2 months old & about 4-6 inches. Ever since yesterday, I noticed they have been "waving" nonstop everytime they see me watching them. Then they seem to do it to eachother, really slowly, switching from one arm to the other. Is this normal for babies or are they just kinda intimidated right now since I've only had them 3 days & they came from a small Petco tank filled with 25 other babies, which they might be used to?

In the picture below, that's Buster (the one on the bottom) and Peanut (the reddish colored one). I ended up getting them both for free since the checker at Petco didn't see me holding the box in the same hand as my purse the 2 different times I went in the store to get them, hehehe. So I walked off with $130 worth of lizards that day!

your two babies are very cute, and i love the handwaving, for whatever reason they might do it.

I do hope i misunderstood the whole walking out of the store without paying for the lizards???
I do dislike petco, but walking out of a store without paying just because the cashier didn't see the box that you held in the same hand as your purse???? Two wrongs don't make a right, and chances are, someone there might get in trouble if the inventory don't add up. And you did that twice in a day????
Well, maybe thats just the retail manager in me, or maybe just the fact that i could never do that, no matter from which store.

I still hope i simply misunderstood you , and in that case, my apologies.

Technically it is still stealing. If I were you, I would go back and pay for the dragons. Afterall, somebody may decide to actualy look at the security tape most stores have and may see you walking out with a box with the dragon hidden behind your purse.

Criminal charges certainly wouldn't be nice to have for getting the pets you would have paid for, if the clerk noticed.

Personally I would go back to the store and pay for the dragons, explain you just noticed on the receipts the dragons were missed. Being honest will get you further.

I knew a guy that used to work at this store & he said there are no cameras or security & that that don't take inventory on their animals b/c a lot of the ones that go unaccounted for either die or get loose in the store & that's what they report to the store managers. I'm not worried about criminal charges at all b/c of this.

I know it is considered stealing & it probably wasn't the most honest or best thing to do but I have had many issues with Petco (as do a lot of people, visit the link below for some horrible facts) so I don't feel bad in the slightest for "rescuing" these babies & giving them a good home.

While I was in there, there were 2 guys looking at baby leos as a "toy" for their cat! The store employee just laughed & suggested a "faster lizard." I complained several times about many things I have noticed wrong in the 2 stores in my area & nothing has been done to this day, so I'm not going to go out of my way to pay money to a store that doesn't take it's customers concerns & complaints, let along the welfare of the animals it is selling, seriously.

Which Petco did you get those two from? And where?

I know a few by me(Los Angeles)beardie's aren't exactly in the best health, and mine came with parasites. If you got them from around my area you might wanna get a fecal.
