Questions about laying sites, eggs, incubation, etc

kristinL568 Oct 01, 2003 06:03 PM

Siona started blushing on the 25th. I still haven't actually seen them mate but Siona does have soem bite marks on the back of her neck & she seems to be getting a little large. So what do I need to do to make her a laying site? How long & at what temp do the eggs need to be incubated? She looks so pretty with her orange spots. They've gotten a lot brighter. I really should take some pictures but the only time I get the chance is in the morning & I always forget. Sorry, Eve. My Squig's such a little stud. They were only together for a week or two before she started showing. I'm a happy girl. = )

Congratulations! I am so jealous, I have to wait until next Spring for Vegas to be old enough It is worth the wait though, at least I think it is! Little Squig babies, how exciting! Good luck

section in captive care about reproduction gives ya all temps and such, easier than typing it all, LOL as far as laying sites, I use bricks, in a corner in an L shape, with a small opening so she can get in of course, 2-3 inches of dampened sand. And a piece of slate over top as a roof, or you could use a flat rock over the bricks. As long as you use the bricks its secure. Other people use a laying box or container with a hole cut into the side. My female would not use it. So I went with the more natural type den look.
Chia chose to just lay under the big rock her and Chino sleep under, she layed with him in there. (not usually done) Important thing, Kristin, is that the sand about 2-3 inches in your area stays damp, not dripping wet, but damp ! And let the eggs be layed! LOL
