calico question

magicalmorphs Sep 11, 2011 10:11 AM

There was a post on here a couple weeks back asking about pieds and if high white pieds throw high white pieds and low whites throw low white. I know you CAN get high whites from low white parents and vise versa, but a few breaders stated theres a tendancy for the hatchlings to have similar white percentages of white as the parents. My question is does this apply to calicos and sugars also?

I know several people have calicos. Can someone chime in?

I have yet to produce any myself as I am getting into them but consider that genes are genes or beauty is on the inside, lol. I picked up a Pastel/YB last year from Reptile Industries that was labelled "ugly" on the bag. I bred to a Spider and made some really spectacular Bumblebellies. Now no one is going to out right tell you that statement is true because most of these animals will stem from a sole animal or clutch from importation or what not especially with recessive traits like the Pied. So, for the most part I am particular to say its a false statement especially with co-dom/dom cause look at all the variations in pastels, spiders, pinstripes over the year and how they vary as well. Just my 2 cents
