What is it? Identification Help Needed!

ddreptiles Sep 11, 2011 05:32 PM

I have a ball python hatchling that has me stumped. So I am turning to the forum for some help in identifying what he might be based on your experiences.

I have a female Spider that was bred to an Enchi and Fire male. Both sired the clutch as I have enchis and fires in the 9 egg clutch. The male pictured below does not look like a typical fire, enchi or spider I have ever seen. Nor does it look like a fire spider or enchi spider. Ultimately I am going to have to breed him to find out what he is.

I am looking to based on your actual experiences with the fire & enchi pairings with spiders. What do you think? Have you produced something similar that I can compare to?

Thanks for your help.

the head pattern is kinda like a spider. coloration might have some enchie in it lol

then again might have something else playing in it.

Hi Dwayne, I think it looks like a Fire with some Granite type speckling in it. Dont know, do you think maybe one of the Sires or Dam had some Granite in them ? Just a thought, Jay

Wow, that is a tough one! I don't see enchi but maybe fire and almost surely spider. The white, calico-ish sides of a spider are there and sort of the head pattern but not quite the full body pattern. Looks similar to the pair of spiders that Evan Stahl had up for sale last season. Sort of in-between.
Pretty cool looking whatever it turns out to be.

John,

I agree it has the low white on the side typical of a spider. But what throws me off is the body pattern just does not seem to fit. I guess it could be just a different looking spider with maybe fire to it...who knows. lol

looks like a fire enchi spider ...I think and I could be wrong but the enchi gene is stamping out the spider gene to a point and the fire is fighting with it. Look what the enchi gene does to the pied gene..it fights it and messes up the pattern.
Just a guess...

Are you sure your spider wasn't a woma? Or even a woma spider? I have seen womas that look just like spiders, same with a spider woma.

Anyway, looks like a fire woma to me

Definitely spider - probably enchi.

Do you have a just hatched picture?

Hows the pattern on the spider mother?
