I haven't posted on the Milk forum in many years, it's been quite some time since I've had a Milk. I do enjoy reading the posts and looking at pictures though. I've been admiring Tangerine Albino Hondurans for over a year, especially the ones with non perfect bands. I ordered a hatchling female off of the KS classifieds which will arrive on Tuesday (first picture). I vended at a show today and was thrilled to find a 2 year old male (second picture) and a 2 year old female (third picture). The female was labeled as a Hypo Tangerine Albino Honduran. I would not think that the Hypo gene would affect an Albino animal, how can you lessen black on a snake that has no black? But she does seem to be a brighter color, so I guess adding Hypo to Albino does affect the color? Thankfully I sold enough of my baby snakes to be able to afford the pair. The man who sold them to me told me they were originally produced by someone named Rob Haneisen. I don't know who that is or if he reads this forum. The two I got today are super sweet snakes and I love them already. Can't wait to get the baby girl on Tuesday. Thought I'd share my excitement and pics

Very cool Lyn!, glad you took the plunge back into some milks.

Well, Rob Haneisen is a well-known milksnake breeder, and he does post here now and then as well. He is getting out of it to focus on some other things in his family life, at least for the time being.

I don't really understand about the amel being labeled as a "tangerine hypo", but it could have been mislabeled and meant to have said "tangerine, het hypo". And of course there are double homozygous animals expressing both the amel and hypo gene at the same time, but as you said, the hypo gene is totally "masked" by the amelanistic gene. These of course are referred to as "hybinos". Now some hybinos can have very different looks, and you simply CANNOT distinguish a hybino from an albino, regardless of what anybody else claims, because they have, but it hold no whater whatsoever. To "KNOW" with certainty they are indeed hybinos, you have to know the precise genetic background of each parent. One can then only prove any offspring to be hybinos by certain clutch outcomes, it's just as simple as that.

Here is a sweet hatchling pic from last year of a definite PROVEN hybino I have from Rusty Green that is also 100% het anery. Hybinos can have many different phenotypes just like amels can.

Well, that just might give me an excuse to buy another Honduran, a male Hypo, to put with my female to see if she truly is Hypo or at least het for it I can see why people enjoy working with these snakes. Wonderful temperaments. I bought some Hypo Brooks Kings recently as I thought they were beautiful snakes but they are not the most handlable of snakes. They have an annoying habit of biting and chewing on me for no apparent reason.

I like them all, but must have that last one to match up with a male I recently hatched out (and posted just now) - so send it to me without delay!

I'd say that last one is a "hybino" though that's just guess. You'll find Hondurans to be far "sturdier" than corns. I have a female tangerine that just celebrated her 23rd birthday (I got her as a yearling in 1989).

Hi Dave, How have you been? I actually was on your site a couple weeks ago and was impressed by how much your collection has grown since the days where you counted yourself lucky just to be able to have a couple snakes in the house I can see why you've devoted yourself to Milks. They are so awesome to work with. My main focus will remain on Balls and Corns, but I'm really enjoying my 3 new Hondurans alot.

I remember producing those snakes in, I think, 2009 and selling them for some good money. The way I sold them was tangerine albinos that were possibly hybinos or het for hypo.

They look like they are growing up nicely.

Thanks so much for your response! I bought them at the Western New York Reptile Show from a man named Russ who said they belonged to his son. I'm unsure what his son's name was, or why his son had decided he no longer wanted to work with them. There was a 3rd Milk there too. But I only had enough money for two of them. I paid $175 each. They are doing good and eating well and I just adore them!
