Iron Mountain Bulls, Brewster county TX

Joe Forks Sep 12, 2011 02:13 PM

Here are some Iron Mountain Bulls (or gophers if you prefer) from Brewster county, Texas. The parents are wild caught by me in September 2007 as hatchlings from the Prairie adjacent to the town of Marathon, Texas, and in the shadow of Iron Mountain. Hence my naming convention. I'm waiting on one more clutch.

Sire

Dam as a hatchling

Dam as young adult

Offspring

I don't care how far apart they are (within reason) as long as the localities are stated, buyers can make up their own minds.

NON-LOCAL or GENERIC: Lineage is not traceable to WC
Generics need love too.

WOW all beautiful but the first 2 pics are striking. I like how variable they are in color and pattern. Thanks for sharing. Very cool.

Dave,
xmas is in south county, Marathon in North county, so maybe 60 or 70 miles as a crow flies. It's a little drier in south county so those animals tend to be a little lighter overall. I've seen more variation in the north county animals though.

I'm assuming they're going to look more like the sire. All very nice Joe but the third from the last is, at least to my eye, really nice. How big does this local get?

The other female is really speckled, and that is "one of the looks" I'd like to breed for. Here's a photo of her

I'm sure these will get to seven feet based on the wild ones I've seen, and we'll see if they any bigger than that. My biggest 4 year old is about 6.5'

I really like the look of those. Great variation. Seems like a really fun project. Good luck with them and good finds.

Thanks, probably should have chosen a different background!

Those are beautiful babies out of fine parents! I especially like the sire. The babies look like they mostly take after him.

Thanks Bob,
That's not a bad thing, I'll be happy if I can sire's color on dam's pattern.

AMAZING! Beautiful locality Sonoran's from the eastern part of the range. I had to check myself looking at those youngsters, particularly, the second to the last photo with that hint of anterior striping. "You don't have space for any more snakes, You don't have room for any more snakes..."
