Bombed. I guess everyone's point of view is different. I'll readily admit the expo doesn't have as many vendors or as many big names as it had in the past. I'm sure there are many reasons for this. First of all, there are many reptile shows around the country now. Customers and vendors don't have to travel as far to find a good show. Second, the expo is located in a far corner of the country. A central location can draw customers and vendors from all directions. So the expo is smaller, that doesn't mean it isn't a good show. I have done the show since the 2nd year, I have had better shows year after year, with the 2011 expo being the best. I didn't take a poll, but everyone I talked to had a good show.
I'm looking forward to the FIRE show as much as anyone else. I don't know if there will be any more "Big Breeders" or foreign buyers at this show than came to Daytona.
People can say what ever they want to about Wayne and the expo, but you have to give him credit for starting the reptile show business. He might not have had the first show, but I think it was the first large show. It was truly an international event.
I liked the Twin Towers location and I'm looking forward to going back there again, but that wasn't the location for the first expo. The 2nd expo was there, and stayed there until the show moved to Daytona. The first expo was held at the Howard Johnson hotel next to the Twin Towers. That show was so crowded that when the doors were opened, the stampede was scary. It was like Walmart opening the doors on Black Friday.
If the 2011 Expo was a bomb, I hope the 2012 expo is a Mega Bunker Buster Bomb.
Eric, Remember the Sawgrass shows, even the smallest shows were fun. See you in Orlando.
