Which locale had the highest band count?
Hubbs found It. He found the first one with Don Huffman in 2006 I believe. That one made the book I believe. After that about two years ago, He found one with one more or one and a half more bands. He only counted them up to the vent and it was around 48 rings. Its his spot so I don't want to name it but it was in coastal Los Angeles County not far from the ocean. Lots of kings there have high band counts but you could tell right away his was exceptional.

Ok, thanks...next question; anyone working with them?
Is there a church next to that field? I live close to one of the fields Don frequented. I visit it occasionally for fun. Lots of kings in a small area.

I know an area near Calif city that has desert phase high band count cal kings. I wish I'd kept some because i never saw anyone else who had them except one person.
I will have to make a trip out one night to try and get one.
Do you know of the area? Or have you ever heard of anyone finding any desert high band count Cali kings?

Rainer, I know of that area but have never been there. I've heard there are some high band counts in that part of the desert. One reason why the record doesn't come from there is most herpes don't count bands. Hubbs pays attention to all those details and that's one reason why he has the highest band count documented for a wild caught king. There may be even higher band counts in captivity.

Hi Rainer,
I am with you again on this one.
I saw a group of WC desert kings that had super high band counts, from somewhere near Cal city.
The first band on the neck started on the head. Which is also different normally for cal kings. Cheers
I found mine back in 1982-83 and I recall they were much higher than 48 bands. We did count them and if memory serves me right I think they were 56-62.
Actually mark (Crimsonking) had a mixed locale morph posted here a couple years ago with a pretty high band count. But it was not from any one locale. Just a freak mix. I hope he still has a pic and can tell us what the band count on that one was just so people can see how crazy attractive they are with a high band count. I think I hit him up to buy that snake, but it was to late and it was already sold.
But there is nothing like a B&W with a high band count for attractiveness.

Yeah no kiddin. I'd like to have one because they're awesome snakes, but since everyone's so freakin damn secretive about them and no one seems to be working with'em I doubt I'll will.
Hell I can't even get a picture of one posted in here. I'd be happy to have a picture of one to look at....but NOOOOO.
Thanks Ross. I actually had you in mind when I started the post.
Can't wait to see a pic.
48 bands is impressive, but not that much. Hubbs just documented that one.
i wish crimsonking would post his designer high band he had.
