Question about feeding my Boa's

monsterdcreptile Sep 18, 2011 09:37 PM

I have been breeding regular rats and african soft furred rats. I've noticed the ASF's are much easier to care for and the smell isn't as bad in my one bedroom apartment. So my question is, is it possible to feed my adult Boa's 3-4 ASF's each vs. 2 medium regular rats a week? Has anyone ever done this? Or is this a no no.

I recently started raising my own rats as well. It became a lot easier to feed smaller rats because they take so long to grow to the Jumbo size. I am now feeding my boas 2 lg rats every week, instead of 1 jumbo. I have noticed no ill effects. If anything, I think they are able to consume a little more when it's smaller prey size. I think you should have no problems, although 3 or 4 does sound like a lot individual meals.
If they eat it, it's no problem at all.
