Genetics question.... Snow?

geckoejon Sep 19, 2011 12:10 PM

Hello,

I was wondering the odds of producing a snow by breeding an visual albino 100% het axanthic to a visual axanthic 100% het albino.

% of Snow? Albino? Axanthic? Hets?

Trying think of a nice little project to dip into the world of bp's with. Thanks!

Jonathan

Wow I was way wrong. Didn't catch that visual Axanthic or het albino. I thought we were dealing with visual albino and a het for Axanthic. Friends don't let friends post hopped up on red bull and coffee.

Sry but not quite there ,

Breeding an Albino to Het. Axantic would give you.....

All babies would be considered 100% albino/50% het. Axantic.....

So basically, roughly half would be DH Snow and the rest just het. Albino......

MSConstrictors Sep 19, 2011 04:19 PM

Bams' response would be the correct one.......

CORRECT

I can say as someone who has missed out on hitting on the Snow for three years with an Axanthic het Albino and an Albino het Axanthic, it is harder than it looks on paper.

It's a very long, but satisfying project in the end.

Most double recessives are.
