What to keep, what to sell and who to breed?

h0mersimps0n Oct 01, 2003 08:04 PM

Hey guys, I've concluded one thing about myself when it comes to corns- I'm indecisive.

I want to broaden my herp horizon and I think I need to unload a few beautiful corns to do so but the question is who...

I have:

0.1 Adult Ball
1.1 Adult Normals (proven breeders)
---all below are '03's----
1.1 Miami (from Kathy Love which I'm keeping no matter what)

1.1 Striped Anery
1.0 Hypo Stripe
0.1 Stripe Normal
1.0 Aztec/zigzag (whatever) anery
0.1 Anery

When they are of age I'm breeding the Miami's and keeping those. I'm looking to keep those who would someday make for some really neat breeding projects and unload the others.

If you were me, what would you do? Who would you look to breed? Who is worth how much? Should I keep one stripe anery and one stripe hypo and produce some normal stripes het stripe ghost? Does the world need more striped anery's? I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about selling the regular anery and partial aztec, amazing eaters but I need room...

Thoughts, suggestions, info most welcome!

thanks!

When they are of age I'm breeding the Miami's and keeping those. I'm looking to keep those who would someday make for some really neat breeding projects and unload the others. You can always alternate, breeding only 1 pair each year…this way you don’t overload yourself with too many hatchlings at first.

If you were me, what would you do?
I would simply wait. If they are 03’s you can wait (especially since now is the worst time to be selling corns)….once they are bigger, they’ll be worth more if you decide to sell them, PLUS it may be during the off season when less people are selling.

Who would you look to breed? You could always just throw them all in together and see what happens once the eggs hatch…surprises are always nice. However, if you want to know if any are het then it is not the way to go. Use the progeny predictor program…play around with it and you may come up with some interesting combos

Who is worth how much? Always depends on who is buying and why. You could always post an ad stating ‘make me an offer’ and go from there.

Should I keep one stripe anery and one stripe hypo and produce some normal stripes het stripe ghost? Maybe but that would be a few years away before you see any results of that project. If you are like me…you’ll want immediate results..lol
Does the world need more striped anery's? I don’t have one (YET) …lol ,,,maybe in the future. I haven’t gotten into the motley’s and striped genetic traits yet…don’t know why, but they just don’t appeal to me right now…..i still like the more natural patterns better.

I don't know what to do. BEST BET IS TO WAIT THEN.
I'm thinking about selling the regular anery and partial aztec, amazing eaters but I need room... YOU’LL REGRET IT (as it seems like most people do with corns that feed very well and have really nice patterns, especially if the person you sell to posts pics of them as adults in the forum in a another year or two…lol).

just my thoughts though
