Some new additions

rosspadilla Sep 19, 2011 05:12 PM

Since things are pretty quiet around here today, I thought I'd post a couple of Cal kings I got recently. This first one is from Don Shores. I've mostly been into the locality stuff the past few years but there's just some morphs or looks I will likely never find in the wild that I just had to have.

Ruby eyed Lavender Cal king.

This year I was on the lookout for a nice 50/50. This one had the coolest head pattern and over all banded pattern out of all the kings I could find. Its also het for albino.

Back in May I went down to Alexandria Louisiana to work for a month. While down there I wanted to do some road cruising for a Louisiana Pine, which would be a long shot but I had no time to get any herping in. Mean while my friend's (Byron) female, from Terry Vandeventer's line, produced 5 large eggs. Here's one of the males I got from that clutch. I've never had a Pine. They are so much different from Gopher snakes, its hard to believe they were classified as the same species at one time. This little guy is extremely mean and hisses like no other snake I've ever had. In one month he is already on small/med adult mice!

This last one is an Axanthic, also known as ghost, Sonoran Gopher snake. This one I also picked up from Byron and its a very good eater. They all take food right from my fingers except the Pine who just hisses and strikes. lol

That LA Pine is outstanding! I think next year I wanna get into some Pits. I really dig the Tri color Bullsnakes from the northern ranges and Florida and Northen Pines are pretty cool as well. Nice critters all around!
