Cliff and Jaff made me think, How many of us have gotten snake(s) back that we originally sold and why?

I have several....

Ying and Yang, 2005 offspring that came back to me for boarding while the owner finished up school, has evolved into a semi permanent breeding loan.

Lola, Velvet and Sugar, Three of my 2007 Wilma/Betty/Fred offspring, the owner was getting out of snakes and those were three I thought would be worth it to take back.

HA-OZ-1004 and 1005, Stripe litter babies from 2010, one of only two pairs sold, the buyer was going to Africa so I thought it prudent to get them back. Sadly, they came in with mites after only being out of my care for a couple months.

Let's hear your stories........

For me there have been quite a few that have come back. Some like Returna have been babies that were sold through the store here locally and were not kept properly. It is amazing how quickly one that has stuck sheds and looks terrible will look so good and do well after soaking the stuck sheds off. A few local ones came back because they were biting and when they got back into the store they did not want to deal with them. Again a little TLC and they turn around quick. I also bought back some from the guy going to Africa. Mine had no mites and were fine but were much smaller than siblings which had stayed here and been fed VERY regularly. For a long tme I have been posting in my ads that I will buy the snake back if it is not beautifual as an adult. I still have not had one come back to me that way. Much more rewarding than having one come back to me is hearing from people that snakes I sold to them are doing well. This spring I shipped a snake to a customer who had bought a pair of BRBs from me in 1994 and still has them.

I haven't gotten any back, but I probable haven't sold as many at you (Dave) and Jeff. I have had two that I sold die months later and the costumers came back with the dead babies wanting me to replace them. Of course after months had gone by I decided it wasn't my fault. I didn't replace them but I did give the two costumers 10% off if they wanted another. They both did and I haven't heard from either costumer since then, I hope the snakes are doing better this time around...

Yeah, unfortunately I've heard back similar stories form several of my customers. Often they have not listened to my care advice, gone off another care sheet and/or kept them similar to other snakes they already have in their collection (non BRB).

So far I have not had anyone wanting me to provide a replacement although I think many would take one if offered.

The reality for me is baby BRB's are easy to keep alive. Every single baby I've produced that ate for me has thrived in my care, every single one. Yes there have been those rare babies born with a birth defect like a spinal kink or malformed jaw that were put down. And it's not like I give each baby all this individual care, no, just in the right enclosure at the right temperature and fed for the most part weekly the proper size prey item.

Just this week I shipped out a group of six babies that were sold Oct/Nov last year. Many of my fall/winter sales stay with me until warmer spring weather and they do just fine.
