I have been told that this is not a good combo to breed? Like to here from other who have done it and what the outcome was. I have a couple big spider females that I planned to breed a sweet spider male het albino to. Thanks for your time.

spider to spider has made many dead babies.
So you have done this breeding?.....how many times..?.....how many eggs?.....all babies dead?.....

not a lethal gene.......from the sounds of it, he has done it, and has not had problems.......still curious about how many clutches the origional replier has had from spider X spider, and what kind of problems he/she has had......

not worth the risk, you get nothing special from spider x spider. it can potentially give you stillborns. It can also give it extreme "spider" abilities such as loop de loops and cartwheels. if you have a female spider go spend about $100 and get a good looking male pastel and go for bumblebees.
is what this guy is trying to start. prove its lethal, i dare you

If spider is homozygous lethal and the homozygous eggs are all duds there is no practical way to prove it 100%. The bad eggs could just be random bad eggs. But all we need is one proven homozygous breeder spider to prove if the rumor that spider is dominant is true. Still difficult to get agreement on how many spiders in a row a homozygous spider would have to produce to be proven. There have been a few rumors of potential homozygous spiders over the years so we need one of those owners to come forward with numbers if any still haven’t eventually produced a normal by now.
fair enough, i agree there isn't much evidence either way. it just really irritates me when people state that its lethal as fact, when it's not. its speculation at best. i think we haven't seen one because not many people ever do spider x spider, since at this point everyone knows there's no super form so to speak

Heather Wong has a spider female that hatched out a clutch that was 100% spider. This could be an anomaly or it could be a homozygous spider...
Follow her clutches next year to see...
id say depending on clutch size after 2-3 years this could end up being a first. would finally put some rumors to rest

sorry just stating what I have been told I am not trying to start a rumor but as been said is this thread why breed two morphs with known genetic issues?
Oh wait spiders dont have neuro issues thats their pimp crawl.
i never said they don't have issues. im just pretty sure that the originator of the spider morph knows what he's talking about. that's why its always good to research stuff instead of just believing everything everyone tells you

spider to spider is a lethal combo, never done it myself so i dont know if all babies die or just majority. Good luck
and you certainly don't know if it's lethal or not. me, personally, i trust kevin over someone who's never done it. just saying

...it was fine.
Seven eggs from spider het albino x spider poss het albino. One egg went bad, but I doubt it had anything to do with the spider gene. I hatched five spiders and one normal looking baby.
I usually avoid spider x spider, but only because I'd rather use those animals to make more combos instead of more spiders.

Some may be misunderstanding the idea of a homozygous lethal mutation. HG Woma/Pearl is an example. Apparently when you breed two of the heterozygous/woma's together there is no problem with the normal babies or the heterozygous/woma babies, it's only the homozygous/pearl babies that die. IF, spider is also homozygous lethal each egg from spider (the heterozygous version) X spider would only have a 25% chance of being the lethal homozygous spider.
Thing is it's very hard to prove. Your 1 in 7 bad eggs could have been the one homozygous spider in your clutch. TSK has also reported spider X spider breeding with about 25% small bad eggs. Because bad eggs happen regularly in all clutches it really doesn't prove anything just like the lack of a public proven homozygous spider doesn't prove that a living one couldn't eventually be made.
It could also be that the neurological development of the homozygous form is impaired at the normal incubation temps and would do just fine at lower temps.
I have heard stories the the wobble can be eliminated by incubating eggs at lower temps. In the end, until someone decides to do a detailed study, breeding 6-8 pairs of spiders together and incubating the eggs at different temps to get the babies out. Then the ultimate proof would come by breeding each of the spider offspring to a normal. The homozygous, if one survived, should produce all spider offspring.
Anyone willing to do the experiment?
I tried it this year......first clutch is out, 7 eggs from spider X normal, 7 hatched, 4 spiders......3 spiders perfect(so far).....1 spider REALLY jacked.......can't even lift his head without wobbling, or 'vibrating'......eggs incubated at 86 degrees, hatched at 64 days. This spider is the only spider I have produced that has had a 'wobble' right out of the egg. Most babies I get rid of pretty quickly, 2 sheds(usually 5-6 meals) so I can't follow, but I have had zero complaints from my customers about 'wobbly' spiders.
My 'daddy' spider is a 2004(maybe 2005) from Brandon Boeke at Priceless Pythons.

I have done bumblebee x bumblebelly - no slugs and nothing died. It could be that the homozygous spider is lethal and I didn't hit the odds but IDK.
Personally I would try to find an albino to breed your spider het to.

a friend of mine bred a honey bee male to a spider poss het hypo this year and had a high mortality rate. 4 spiders and 2 normals i believe. 2 spiders came out and died within the day, 1 more lived for about 2 weeks and died and the other is with me and doesnt act right at all. i have never seen it flick its tongue, it does have one as i seen it while assist feeding. it still has not shed and its been over a month now.
other factors could have caused the issue though. as their was also a normal that came out and died.
