Snake Transport Question

Guy Scavone II Sep 26, 2011 04:30 PM

I'm going to be bringing a lot of cages and snakes to the Chicago Reptile Show. It's about a 4 hour drive and I'm wondering what the best way to do this is. My plan is to rent a 14' Uhaul truck. I'm guessing that leaving the snakes in the cages and packing the cages in the back won't work, but I'm not sure I'll have enough room in the cab for all of the snakes bagged and in travel tupperware.

So what do you guys think?

Thanks!

Guy

If you are talking about racks then you just wrap the racks with suran wrap so the tubs dont slide open. If you are talking about actual cages like aquariums then I have no idea except to keep them up front with you.

the cages ,racks , whatever...have to be stacked , loaded ,tied or strapped.... so they won't tip, roll, or fall apart....the snakes need to be kept warm.....so if it's nice out..your ok...if it's hot or cold...they need to be kept accordingly....I have seen many dealers at shows whining the heater broke in the trailer...and snakes froze....or the trailer got too hot...and snakes fried....watched them throw snakes in the trash....piles....it sucks and actually is illegal probably....

....I always have all the snakes in styrofoam boxes ,in the back seat of my car ......depending on how many and how big..you may or may not fit them...you can decide that....

.....good luck.....
