Snake Transport Question

Guy Scavone II Sep 26, 2011 04:31 PM

I'm going to be bringing a lot of cages and snakes to the Chicago Reptile Show. It's about a 4 hour drive and I'm wondering what the best way to do this is. My plan is to rent a 14' Uhaul truck. I'm guessing that leaving the snakes in the cages and packing the cages in the back won't work, but I'm not sure I'll have enough room in the cab for all of the snakes bagged and in travel tupperware.

So what do you guys think?

Thanks!

Guy

Big ice chest to maintain temps. I know a Los Angelas area guy who vends at shows up here in the SF bay area and that's what he uses to transport the animals

You may want to rent a truck that has a heater / air-condition unit for the cargo area. Not sure where to get one but I know they make them. Or look in to renting one of the really big cargo vans like the Dodge Sprinter. This way the snakes will be in a heated area with you.

Take care

Be careful on floors of cars. Lost all babies, on a five hour drive to show, in tupperware containers that were on a back seat floor of a Isuzu Rodeo because I did not realize it could get warm. Temps outside were 80s. Chris
