The Boaphile 2011 year in review

boaphile Sep 27, 2011 04:58 PM

2011 marks the most important season of my Boa breeding career. A number of first for the Boa breeding world and even more firsts for The Boa Black Hole. I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet, though there was a whole lot of goodness that happened... We were very very fortunate. Here goes.

The first litter of note was the very first Key West Boas het Sharp Albino born May 2nd, 2011.

That one litter all by itself would have made for a great season, but there was a lot more coming down the pike!

May 12, 2011 is when one of our Monster Tail Hypos squirted out gallons of unBOAlievable red Jungle Monster Tail goodness!

Oh yea. Some of the reddest babies I have ever seen came from this insane litter:

May 15, 2011 was the first time anyone had deliberately, and with the expectation of doing so, made any Prodigy Boas. A possible het female proved to be a het and the goo did flow.

A couple of them post shed alongside their wild type het siblings.

May 19, 2011 we were fortunate to witness the first Roswell Ladder Tail X Motley breeding.

Both parents were possible het Albinos that proved to in fact be hets! What a bonus! The first Roswell Motleys and an Albino version of the same.

A very short three days later on May 22, 2011 we were able to watch an entire litter from a Hypo Motley female that had been bred by a Key West boy. IN this litter we had Hypo Key Wests, Motleys and the first Key West Motleys.

The Key West Motleys have exceedingly dark eyes like the Roswell Motleys do and crazy color as they have aged and grown a bit.

May 22, 2011 we had several Boa Woman Caramel and BWC Jungles pop up.

What a great litter of crazy kids. Click here to see more pictures.

May 29, 2011 saw the first Key West and Hypo Key West Boas het Kahl Albino born. A very small litter of less than ten babies was the result but the babies are worth it.

May 31, 2011 was the date of the last litter we had in May. What a May it was! Sharp Sunglow Motleys and lots of other possible het critters made a terrible mess of a cage.

June 11, 2011 marks the date that the first live Paradise Boas were born. The new Prodigy X Sharp combo was hinted at with a preemie birth in 2010. The resulting combo mutation is counter-intuitive given the fact that the Paradise Boas are darker than the Prodigy Boas, but now after a bit over three months and three sheds, the fact that the cartoon birth colors remain has me pleasantly surprised with this new combo mutation.

and after three sheds...

We were fortunate to see a few Key West Boas that are not het for anything born in 2011 as well.

A Partho litter of Sharp goodies capped off the season on September 25, 2011

but on September 19, 2011 a few more Paradise puppies slid into the Boa Black hole with their Prodigy Het littermates.

Thank you for your attention. I can't imagine having another season that could be as wonderful as this season has been for me, an old Boa breeder just plugging away trying to make a few cool things to make the collection a little more interesting. It is, as I always say, GREAT FUN!!!

Really cool, Sr. Chimichanga!
Me encantan!
A sunglow motley Key West sounds pretty cool to me-especially once you make them in the T positive version!
