terms????

RainbowsByDesign Sep 27, 2011 10:36 PM

Does anyone have a list of the common term used to describe animals?

Like;

albino = no black pigment
anery = no red pigment

I would like to just hand ppl a sheet instead of explaining every term. And I am lazy and don't want to write one myself.

thanks, John

....Rather than making up a "cheat sheet" of generic genetic terms why don't you instead encourage people to actually LEARN about genetics? A good start would be to point them to the nearest community college where they could take Biology 101 and follow that with whatever other biology classes are available. The word albino shows up on many grade school vocabulary lists. It would seem that anyone who needs help with the word needs help with all their vocabulary. An adult literacy program could be very helpful for them. There are also websites that could help them build their vocabulary. By making them a quick and easy list of words rather than encouraging them to get the education they apparently missed out on you would not be helping them. BTW, the word albino is defined as an organism exhibiting deficient pigmentation. The word is correctly used in our hobby but serious reptile keepers often use the more technically descriptive word amelanism.
