Kingsnakes not display snakes?

bigtman Sep 28, 2011 06:32 PM

Here is one of my kingsnakes enjoying a day out. Let's talk about the picture. 1. She ate last night. 2. the light is a fluorescent light. She is a sweet snake.
She's one that will come out at feeding time. Everyone else will wait for the food to be placed in the cage and for me to leave the room. I think this snake will be one that is not afraid to be out when I come around. I had all the lights on I was cleaning water bowls.

When she was smaller I had in a tray setup and when I slid the tray open to feed her she would almost fall out of it, try to get the mouse. LOL That's when I moved her to a cage setup. She is in a vision 400. She loves having all the room. I have most of my snakes in visions. I have 11 so far.

Mine are still in CB70s, and my axanthic, my normals and my WS's will all just *charge* if mice/chicks/rats have been thawing. Soon as that cage is open NOM NOM NOM. Some of the others have calmed down a lot the last week or two--I'd guess seasonal changes in nighttime lows?

My pyros come out a lot, especially at dusk. The bull snakes also come out, mainly in the middle of the day. The only other snakes I have are a trio of Pacific gopher snakes, and those guys seem to be more shy.
They all have multiple places to hide so I guess they feel secure enough to be seen, even in a house with four cats who look at them occasionally. I have the shyer snakes up higher so they can't see the cats, not that it matters. Female gopher snakes just seem to be shy. The male gopher snake is not shy. The 08 pyros' big tank is on the floor and the cats don't scare them at all. My cats don't tap on the glass or anything, they pretty much just glance at the snakes once in awhile. My male bull snake actually will come out when my partner enters the room. He really likes him! LOL!
