I had a small double clutch of 5 eggs hatch out this week. I was expecting Normals, Anerys, Albinos, and perhaps a Snow. Was not expecting this little baby who hatched out today.

The mom is an Anery Lavender het Amel.

The dad of the first clutch was a Normal het Anery, Amel, Hypo, Charcoal, Diffused.

The first clutch was as anticipated: Normals, Aneries, and Amels, could also have gotten Snows but didn't get any.

I have a young Plasma male. He was small compared to her but figured would be a good trial run for him as I'd planned to start breeding him the following season. I put him in with the Anery Lavender female after her first clutch. She always double clutches, whether I put males in with her or not. I only put the Plasma in a couple half hearted times. Never saw him court or lock or show any signs he had any clue what he was supposed to do.

She double clutched as normal, most of the eggs were infertile, but there were 5 good ones. Two Aneries, a Normal, then this baby hatched out???? Unsure what the 5th one is, still hiding in it's egg.

I've never hatched Lavender babies before. So am unsure if that's what the mystery baby is. Is it possible my Plasma male actually figured things out when I wasn't looking?

If it doesn't look like a Lavender, then any ideas what it could be?

Here is a pic I took when I had put the Plasma in with the Anery Lavender. That would be neat if he did father this mystery baby. If he turns out to be het Anery then perhaps he fathered this whole 2nd clutch. If he's not het Anery then mabye I got a double daddy clutch? I did also put the Normal male in with her between her first and 2nd clutch once or twice as well.

That baby does look to be a lavender. I had several lavenders het hypo that look virtually identical to that one. They can look a bit variable, but most look just like that one with a sort of "ghost" look to them that later develops into their more mature colors.

Here you can see the comparison to the hypo lavender and the darker lavender phenotype.

And here you can see some of the others together. Normal hets, hypos, hypo lavenders, and lavenders. These are all pre-shed of course..

That's awesome, thanks for the input and for sharing your awesome pics! My little Plasma must have figured it out when I wasn't looking cuz I highly doubt my male normal is het for a 6th trait, and there were no lavenders in the larger clutch that he for sure solely fathered. I'm so proud of my Plasma boy!

I have a Hypo Plasma male that will eventually replace him but he's not near breeding size yet. And I have a Plasma poss het Hypo female. That will be a nice pairing someday.

I have alot of Lavender in my collection but no "just Lavenders" so if this baby is a female I might keep her just to see what a Lavender looke like as a single morph as it ages. All of my other Lavenders are also visual for at least one, if not two, other traits.

Sure!, nothing wrong with keeping a nice straight-up lavender to see what it becomes. Those are some excellent looking snakes you posted there too, I must say!..

It's "Lyn" actually I'm so excited now about next season knowing my Plasma male is officially a "proven breeder" even if only one baby LOL. He's poss het Amel and my Anery Lavender girl is proven het Amel. So if he proves out on the het Amel then I'd get a combo of Lavenders and Opals, all het Anery. I'll probably give him a shot at my Lavender Motley too. Also going to use my Amel Motley with her. Will be easy enough to determine who the father is, any Motleys will be from the Amel Motley and any Lavenders will be from the Plasma. She's poss het Diffused so if she proves out then I could get some Plasma babies as well.

Here is another one of my up and coming Lavender boys. I bought him this year, he's a 2011 boy so will be a while till he joins my breeding group, although he's grown alot since this photo was taken, really have to take a new pic... He's a Lavender Pinstripe Motley het Amel.
